Creation and establishment of the town/community:
The history of Bohemia dates to the sixth century, when Slavonic tribes came to the territory of the present Czech Republic from the east, and they settled in the area where Germanic tribes and Celtics had stay previously.

Czech culture has firm roots in a rich and plentiful history. Tourists and visitors from all over the world can marvel at some of the most beautiful and oldest pieces of architecture, literature and fine arts.

You’ve probably already heard of Charles IV, the successful Bohemian king and the Holy Roman Emperor from the 14th century; Hussitism, the most important European religious movement of the 15th century and precursor of the reformation in Europe; Rudolph II, the passionate art collector and lover of alchemy; the Czech Estates Rising, which started the Thirty Years' War; or Václav Havel, the defender of human rights and the first democratically elected president after more than 40 years of communist totalitarianism.

Like every proper story, Czech history also has a beginning: the arrival of the Czechs. Medieval chroniclers studied this and ascertained that Praotec Čech (“Ancestor Czech”) led his tribe to Bohemia in 644. He climbed to the top of Říp Mountain and looked about him. Rip is a 455-meter-high hill in the middle of what is now Bohemia. Standing near the confluence of the Elbe (Labe) and the Vltava rivers, it protrudes so steeply above the flat surrounding landscape in such a way that it looks as though somebody forgot a huge hat. The Romanesque rotunda of St. George and St. Adalbert stands at its summit. Ancestor Czech decided that this land “overflowing with milk and honey” (as he apparently put it) was the place where his tribe would settle. So goes the first of the Czech legends.

History is a stream of events accomplished by real people. Which famous Czechs of the 21st century had an ineffaceable influence on world history?

The Czech Republic is located in the Northern Hemisphere, approximately in the middle of the European Continent. Its neighboring states are Germany (to the west), Poland (to the north), Slovakia (to the east, which together with the Czech Republic constituted Czechoslovakia until 1992) and Austria (to the south).

With a total area of almost 79,000 square kilometers, the Czech Republic is a midsize European country. Its size is comparable to Austria or Ireland and would it fit inside France seven times. The country could fit 122 times within the area of the United States.

Charakteristics of the community/town:
The Czech Republic is not only a modern country with good infrastructure and an advanced economy, but it is also a country with a rich history, which can offer a really wide choice of cultural opportunities.

The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in the middle of Europe. Rather than as a country in the middle of Europe, we should speak of the Czech Republic as a country in the heart of Europe – after all, the heart is not to be found precisely in the center of the human body either.

Historical, archaeological, architectural, and cultural sights:
The oldest preserved architectonic monuments thus come from the early Middle Ages. In the Czech Republic, there are plenty romantic ruins in the middle of beautiful forests and well-preserved and maintained castles and chateaux from various historical times.

The cultural heritage includes also many monuments of religious character, namely Catholic churches and monasteries and also pilgrimage sites, together with Jewish synagogues and unique graveyards. The name of the relatively small Czech Republic, in terms of acreage, is twelve times recorded in the world heritage of UNESCO: Prague , Telč , Český Krumlov , Žďár nad Sázavou , Kutná Hora , Lednicko-valtický areál , Litomyšl , Kroměříž , Holašovice , Olomouc , Brno , Třebíč . Picturesque urban units, together with varied structures of all styles of the European artistic evolution of the past millenium, however, intensify the lovely Bohemian landscape even at many other places like an open textbook of the history of architecture and lifestyle.

Interesting places in nature:
Waters and mountains are the dominant elements that constitute the uniqueness and variety of the Czech Republic's terrain. Mountain ranges surround the country on almost all sides and have served as a natural border in the past. Some of Europe's largest rivers, e. g. the Elbe (Labe), have their origins in the Czech Republic.

The Czech countryside offers a pleasant combination of mountains, water, meadows and forests. The seasonal changes of weather create a unique environment for various leisure activities, relaxation, sports and agricultural activities, without placing a burden on the environment.
